5 Deconstructing Resilience terms
This module will help to start developing a foundational understanding of what resilience is and what it is not by examining helpful disruptions to resilience pedagogy by diving into the power of storytelling, the components of empowered storytelling, and barriers to story stewardship.

Inferiority
noun
The condition of being lower in status or quality than another or others.
Example: However, Block et al (1978) warns of the dangers of comparisons between children's scores on intelligence tests, to label a child with a low intelligence score is similar to stamping them with a 'permanent sense of INFERIORITY'.

Insidious
adjective
proceeding in a gradual, subtle way, but with harmful effects.
Example: In Tom Warner's opinion, "the belief that we need to be legally married to be equal to heterosexuals is simply another INSIDIOUS form of internalised homophobia".

Malign
verb and adjective
verb : speak about (someone) in a spitefully critical manner.
adjective : evil in nature or effect (malevolent)
Example: This "soft" argument approach highlights the intentions of the Chinese in relation to that of their adversaries; whether it is a threat or not depends on their MALIGN or benign intentions.

Steadfastly
adverb
in a resolutely or dutifully firm and unwavering manner.
Example: The Second World War produced a desire for change that was hard to ignore by even the most STEADFASTLY orthodox.
